Over the years there have been more young families moving to Livonia and we want MORE families to move to the city. Parents want good schools + a good life for their kids. I want to make sure they know they can find that in Livonia.
Livonia has some of the best parks and public facilities in the metro region. I want to make sure Parks & Recreation is funded, recognized for its accomplishments and supported when there are opportunities for growth.
Arts and culture enhance city life. From public art to the LSO and school theater, we can do more to recognize the arts in our city. Libraries are vital resources for the general public and we need to invest in them.
I want to represent the next generation of Livonia but I won't overlook the needs and priorities of seniors, Livonia has space for everyone.
The Livonia Police Department does what has been asked of it for decades - keep Livonia safe. Let's make sure the city feels safe for residents and visitors alike.
Livonia has a diverse business economy, I want to ensure companies continue to operate in the city. We should also work to support small business and ensure they have resources to succeed.
I want people to understand how our local government functions, help them feel connected/invested in our democracy and encourage them to engage in the process.
I watch and post online same-day summaries of City Council General and Study meetings. Find the latest summary at the top of my Facebook page here.
The City must maintain its assets. One library is closed due to neglect and the others have problems that are also being ignored. Flooding is an increasing issue and we need to invest in our storm water system to protect our property. In just these 2 areas the city budgets $0 dollars (the library operates on a mill).
Vision 21 provides a roadmap for Livonia's development plans and now we need to take action. There are too many vacant properties in Livonia. Let's make it easier for entrepreneurs to start a business in our city and capitalize on our size/location to attract larger businesses.
100-year rains, 100 degree days and warmer winters are not what we're used to and it's not what our community was built for. We need to make sustainable changes (i.e. using rain gardens, permeable pavement, and retention ponds) and invest in emergency preparedness measures for both environment + public health events.
Representation matters and I want everyone to feel welcome in Livonia. Our city has a place and space for all races, ethnicities, abilities, means and the LGBTQ+ community. I am committed to making sure people feel safe and their voices are heard in Livonia whether they live, work or play in our amazing community.
